AsiaVerify's APAC Corporate Monitoring Index found 14.8% of monitored companies changed within two months, some within two days. See the early findings.

Linkedin Pkyb Study (1)

Singapore, 14 October 2026: Early findings from the AsiaVerify APAC Corporate Monitoring Index show that 14.8% of monitored companies, nearly 1 in 7, recorded at least one corporate change within approximately two months of monitoring beginning, with the first changes appearing within two days in some markets.

The study monitored companies across Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Taiwan and Thailand from 10 June 2026 onwards. Changes were detected across all seven jurisdictions. In New Zealand, Thailand and Hong Kong, the first changes were identified within two days of monitoring beginning. Across all monitored jurisdictions, the average time to first detected change was approximately six days.

Detailed change-event data was available for 400 monitored companies across Japan, New Zealand, Taiwan and Thailand, where the study recorded 276 individual change events. More than 60% of these were linked to shares, shareholders or key individuals.

Using AsiaVerify’s Perpetual KYB, the study tracked changes to official registry records for a defined sample of companies. The findings should be read as an observed monitoring sample rather than a market-wide incidence rate.

The most common change types identified were:

  • Shares changes, accounting for 30.1% of recorded change events
  • Major person changes, accounting for 17.4% of recorded change events (directors, legal representatives and other key individuals)
  • Shareholder changes, accounting for 13.4% of recorded change events

Additional changes included updates to business classifications, capital structures, registered addresses, company names and other corporate record information.

The study also found:

  • Australia recorded the highest rate of monitored companies with at least one detected change, at 30.0%, from a smaller cohort of 20 companies.
  • New Zealand recorded the highest absolute number of affected companies, with 22 out of 100 monitored companies recording at least one change.
  • Taiwan, Thailand and Hong Kong all recorded double-digit percentages of monitored companies with changes, while within Greater China, Hong Kong recorded changes at 16% of monitored companies compared with 4% in China in this sample.

Leas Bachatene, Chief Executive Officer at AsiaVerify, said:

“Many compliance programmes are still built around periodic reviews, yet this study shows that company information can change within days. Rather than relying solely on scheduled reviews, organisations increasingly need approaches that help them identify when relevant company information changes.”

Ficoal Dong, Founder and Chief Product and Technology Officer at AsiaVerify, said:

“What stood out most was not simply the number of companies that changed, but the nature of those changes. More than 60% of recorded change events related to shares, shareholders or key individuals, which are often among the most important data points for understanding who ultimately owns, controls or influences a business.”

Elizabeth Fitzell, Chief Operating Officer at AsiaVerify, said:

“Regulators across Asia-Pacific expect due diligence to continue for the life of a relationship, not stop at onboarding. FATF standards call for beneficial ownership information that is adequate, accurate and up to date, and supervisors including MAS and the HKMA expect firms to keep customer information current. The Index shows how hard that is to evidence on a review calendar alone.”
